HIV AIDS

 

 

The HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Program in Seychelles has two main components. The Care and Support  Section which forms part of the Division of Disease Prevention and Control  is integrated in the Communicable Control Disease Unit ( CDCU).

 

Voluntary Counseling and Testing for HIV can be obtained at all the health facilities including district health centres,  hospital, Blood Transfusion Centre, CDCU, Antenatal clinics, Family Planning clinics, Youth Heath Centre and the private practitioners.

Management of HIV positive clients and patients with clinical manifestation of AIDS including antiretroviral therapy,  are under the responsibility of CDCU.

 

The other aspect of the program is the Prevention section that has as its main purpose to create awareness of and sensitise the general public on the prevention of the spread of the HIV . This section is in the Health Education and Promotion Division.

 

The Program uses a multisectoral approach in the planning, implementation and evaluation of interventions. The structures that facilitate the activities include different fora namely the  ;
