SEYCHELLES CHILD HEALTH PROGRAMME

The Child Health Services forms an integral part of the Health Services and the Child Survival Programme aims at providing regular health surveillance for children.

In Seychelles the Services are readily available and accessible to all children.  Their health and development is under continuing surveillance and adequately recorded from birth to school entry.   Childhood is the unique phase of human development.  It is important to see that the rights and needs of children for growth and development are better understood and that the services involved help to meet those needs.

Seychellois infants and young children between the ages of 0-5years are requested to attend the Child Health Clinics, some on a monthly basis, some on a three monthly and others on a six (6) monthly basis.

The Child Health programme plays a vital role in preventive health care, screening, education and also the maintenance of the nutritional status of all Seychellois children.

Child Health Services are provided in all the 16 Health Centres and 6 satellite centres on Mahe, Praslin, La Digue and Silhouette.

The main activities included in the Child Health Programme are:

Health Surveillance

Health Education/Promotion

Home Visiting

Immunization Schedule
