INTRODUCTION
The
clinical laboratory is a multi-disciplinary department and is situated at
the Victoria Hospital. Laboratory services are part of the essential
back-up service required by the clinicians to help to them better
diagnosed their patient and monitor the course of the disease as it
progressed or cured. The clinical laboratory provides a 24 hours services.
As a multi-disciplinary department the clinical laboratory is mainly
composed of five (5) different operational units namely.
HAEMATOLOGY
UNIT.
CLINICAL
MICROBIOLOGY UNIT
CLINICAL
CHEMISTRY UNIT
CYTOLOGY
/ HISTOLOGY UNIT
BLOOD
TRANSFUSION SEROLOGY UNIT
In
line with the MOH policy to decentralize services being provided and to
bring them as closer to the community the clinical laboratory has not been
an exception. Peripheral laboratories have been established in the
following district Health Centers.
