HEALTH
Occupational
clinic is the special unit under the DPC of the MOH concerned with the
prevention of ill health in the employed populations.
This involves the consideration of the two way relationship between
work and health. It is as
much related to the effects of the working environment on the health as
the influence of the workers’ state of health on their ability to
perform the tasks for which they were employed. Its main aim is to prevent, rather than cure, ill health from
whoever it arises in the workplace.
The
relationship between the worker and the world of work is complex.
The worker brings to the place of work a pre-existing health status
influenced by many factors -
only some of which are under the his direct control.
Any illness that occurs in the employed worker has to be viewed in
this context. The health
outcome could be caused by work, modulated by work or unrelated to it.

Officer is a mandatory requirement under the Occupational Health and
Safety Act.

and employers on work
related and other general health issues.
