The diagnosis and conditions of patients referred for physiotherapy cover a wide range and has been classed under six groups:

Neurological Conditions: e.g. cerebrovascular accidents head injuries etc.

 

Soft tissue injuries: e.g. sprains contusion, muscle ruptures etc.

 

Orthopedic conditions. e.g fratures,deformities.

 

Cardio-respiratory conditions: e.g. asthma, pneumothorax, bed ridden patients pre-post operative conditions.

Gynecological Conditions:

 

-    Patients with stress incontinence.

-    Pre-post natal.

-    Pre-post operative.

 

Progressive disorders: e.g. rheumatoid

arthritis, osteoarthrosis, cystic fibrosis.

 Modalities of treatment:  

       Chest Physiotherapy

       Breathing Exercises

       Postural drainage

       Use of inhalers

 

Pain management:  

       Counseling

       Resting technique

       Short wave diathermy

       Infra Red

       Hot compress

       Cold compress

       Interferential therapy

       Ultrasound

       Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation

       Joint mobilization (including traction, soft tissue mobilization)

 

 Rehabilitation  

       Mobility­  – Strengthening Exercises

                       _ Stretching techniques

       Postural correction

       Functional re-education

       Prevention techniques

       Advice on fitting of orthotic devices

       Electrical stimulation
