CARING FOR YOUR BACK

Backache can be avoided. You are the best person to help yourself.  Follow the simple advise for a healthier back.

STAND tall. Don't arch your lower back-flatten it. Pull in your tummy and chin. Balance your weight equally.

SIT in firm straight-backed chairs which support your back. Avoid slouching in deep chairs or settees, especially for long periods such as when watching TV

LIFT & CARRY with a straight back.

Bend your knees. Don't stick your  bottom up in the air. Use your thigh, hip shoulder and arm muscles. These are stronger than your back. Stand near the load to pick it up, then carry it as close as possible to your body. Balance the load equally.

Don't carry too much. Divide the load into smaller loads. Find someone to help lift.

WEAR low heels. High heels stress your spine.
