Pharmacy
in the Seychelles has historically been a health profession of a
product-oriented practice. This
has, however, changed over the years into a clinically more-oriented drug
therapy management.
This
management has now evolved into a practice that is today more effective
and more rational. The
pharmacists are clinically
more knowledgeable, and they now participate more closely as full members
of the Health Care Team.
The
Pharmaceutical team is comprised of a Director, six (6) pharmacists,
technicians, dispensers and auxiliary staff.
The Director is responsible for the planning, organising,
administering and the supervising of the efficient and effective
functioning of the services; thereby assuring the safety, availability,
efficacy and quality of all medicinal products in the country.
He also ensures that pharmaceutical
practice and care are properly and continuously adhered to.
Pharmaceutical activities in the public sector may be
identified under these major areas.
